Microsoft Visio Advanced

Microsoft Visio Training Courses

This one day Microsoft Visio Advanced training course aims to take users who are familiar with the basic concepts of Microsoft Visio and develop their skills to the advanced level.

The course will cover a wide range of features that are a part of Visio 2013.

The course begins by looking at shapes and how to use them even more effectively. Included here are how to use Paste Special, how to insert a field, add ScreenTips and add hyperlinks.

Containers in Visio 2013 allow a user to add visual boundaries around select shapes and then label these same boundaries in an according fashion. In this module delegates are lead through the ins and outs of manipulating containers and topics include: adding a container, adding shapes to, and removing shapes from, a container, changing container style, resizing the container, and disbanding the container.

Callouts are similar in appearance to thought balloons in comics and are used in Visio 2013 to add annotations to shapes in a drawing that has been created. This Advanced Training Course looks at inserting and moving callouts, changing the position of a callout line, resizing and callout and changing its style.

A drawing in Visio is made up of layers. These layers are used to organise related shapes on a drawing. Here delegates will  learn how to add a layer then show or hide a layer, how to activate a layer, how to colour a layer and lock it and how to preserve group member layers.

Shapes in Visio 2013 can have data associated with them and this function can be looked at from several aspects. This training course  looks at how to manually add data with the Shape Data Window and how to manually link shape data. It also covers how to automatically link shapes to data, how to refresh the data source, and how to remove data links.

Data graphics are used to display information about a shape and they are generally inserted in a Visio 2013 file automatically when a user links a shape to external data. This section of the Visio Advanced training course teaches how to insert data graphics, how to create custom data graphics, edit graphics, and remove graphics.

Process diagrams are graphical representations of a how step-by-step process is carried out. Arrows are usually used to express directional flow between shapes. In this section of the course,  delegates will learn to create process diagram, add shapes, create new sub-processes, linki sup-processes, edit sub-processes and check the diagram for errors.

Cross-functional flowcharts act to show relationships between a process and the organisational or functional units. Here delegates will learn how to create a cross-functional flowchart, how to add swimlanes and separators and shapes, how to change diagram orientation and direction, how to modify swimlane margins and how to choose a flowchart style.

Organisation charts can be used to show how an organisation functions and the reporting hierarchy within. This section of the Advanced Visio Training Course shows delegates how to create an organisation chart manually, how to create one with the wizard, how to add shapes and images and how to change the shape style. Delegates will also learn how to modify the layout, change the spacing, modify the position, create and use a synchronised copy, and how to compare charts.

A workflow diagram is used as a visual representation of the series of steps in the creation or management of a project. This section of the Advamced Visio Training Course looks at creating a workflow diagram, adding shapes, importing SharePoint workflows, exporting workflows to SharePoint, and creating stage outlines.

A Gantt chart is a bar chart which is used to show the schedule of a project and to track its progression. Delegates will learn to create a Gantt chart, enter tasks, dates, and duration, add rows and columns and configure work time.
